As a certified B-Corp, Charlie Bigham's is committed to environmental sustainability in all aspects of our operations. We prioritise responsible sourcing by establishing long-term partnerships and maintaining short supply chains to ensure traceability and consistency. Whenever possible, we source locally and are exploring sustainable agricultural practices to secure our supply, including regenerative farming, and upholding high animal welfare standards.

Our packaging is designed with the planet in mind. Our signature wooden trays are crafted from fast-growing poplar trees, selected for their low carbon footprint. We also use recycled plastic in our tray film and natural red clay for our ceramic dishes. Notably, our efforts to reduce the thickness of our plastic film have prevented 9 tonnes of plastic waste from reaching landfills annually. While we are already leaders in environmentally conscious packaging, we continuously seek new ways to minimise our products' environmental impact.

We are enthusiastic about reducing food waste. By partnering with local charities, we donate surplus food, minimising waste and supporting those in need. In 2023 alone, we donated approximately 256,000 meals to local communities. Additionally, we manage waste through comprehensive recycling programs and refining our recipes to minimise waste throughout production.

Energy efficiency is integral to our environmental initiatives. We invest in renewable energy and encourage employees to be mindful of their energy consumption both on and off-site. Our Quarry Kitchen in Somerset embodies this commitment, featuring eco-friendly technologies such as solar panels and a water treatment plant. The Quarry’s ecosystem is home to diverse wildlife, including five different bee species, thanks to our wildflower seeding efforts.

At Charlie Bigham's, we believe that great food should also be good for the planet. We are proud to lead by example in the food industry, balancing delicious meals with environmental responsibility, and making a positive impact every step of the way.
